Motion Picture Meltdown Villain Countdown: Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes (Misery)

Hello motion picture maniacs.  In the absence of our podcasts the last couple of months, Mark and I have decided to re-dedicate ourselves to making sure Motion Picture Meltdown always has something going on. Podcasts are going to start up again regularly soon, but for fun on the side, I've decided to put together some lists. Starting today, I'll be ranking my opinions of the twenty-five best villain actors in movies. Because of the pure awesomeness of the actors involved, I really have no way of ranking them, therefore I'll just keep it at a basic list for fun. Also...I'm not really for the pr-70's oldies...so I'm keeping the list narrowed to movies after 1970. Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!!

We're fat, lazy, assholes! In this week's podcast, we go over the baddest of bad and review Die Hard and Die Hard 2: Die Harder. And yes, apparently you can die harder than hard.  In this episode, Mark and I talk about the sheer badassery of Bruce Willis and the character of John McClane, the fact that we may have found the worst case of "mayor syndrome" in any movie thus far, and the discuss the apparent absolute durability of Zippo lighters in snow storms.

Motion Picture Meltdown: Hangover 2 Review

Todd Phillips' The Hangover(2009) took me by quite the surprise. It takes a lot to get me to appreciate a comedy enough to feel reimbursed for the money that I've spent to go see it. In the last ten years there has only been a few comedies that I've really liked. These would include titles like Wedding Crashers, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Old School etc. Being that Todd Phillips had done Old School, and a very underrated Screwed(1996), I gave his 2009 flick a chance. I loved it. I loved the characters, plot, and happy ending. However, I didn't really see any room for a sequel. How wrong I was, because this is the day and age of sequels to movies that don't need them, and remakes of movies that were good enough to start with.

Motion Picture Meltdown - X-Men: First Class Review

The summer of the Superheroes is upon us, and after being thoroughly impressed with Thor, I decided to keep things going by taking my talents to the theater and giving X-Men: First Class a chance. Yes. You heard me correctly. I decided to give the X-Men franchise (while still being in Fox Entertainment's mitts) another chance after X3: The Last Stand. Oh wait, I did that when I went to see the monstrosity that is X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Okay, so shoot me. I gave the franchise another "another" chance.

This week, Mark and I take a trip back to the 80's and round out one of the best to worst ratio original and sequel movies out there. We hang out for a great time with Michael J. Fox in Teen Wolf, and stick around for a little too long while watching Jason Bateman embarrass himself and the entire franchise in Teen Wolf Too.

MPM: S03/E02 - The Snake Charmer

Escape From New York | Escape from LA - Hello everyone! Thanks for checking out the newest episode of Motion Picture Meltdown! In this episode, Mark and I go over the adventures of Snake Plissken in Escape from New York, and Escape from LA. We talk about the fact that John Carpenter pretty much just directed the same movie twice, the fact that Snake Plissken isn't as smart as he looks(?), and apparently when he isn't performing moral crimes, Snake is also part of the future's National Basketball Association.  Enjoy!

MPM: S02/E18 - Never Surrender to Cyborgs!

No Retreat, No Surrender | Cyborg - Hello everyone! Welcome to the season finale of Motion Picture Meltdown - Season 2! In this episode, Mark and I tear apart two horrible Jean-Claude Van Damme films, in No Retreat, No Surrender, and Cyborg. We decided to pick two of JCVD's most terrible and hilariously cheesy movies to finish out this season. We want to apologize for the inconsistency that plagued our podcasts all season long, and we promise to get our shit together and on a regular basis for Season 3, which starts in late February/ early March! In this episode, Mark and I discuss the importance of cock push-ups to cardio, how many stereotypical traits can be jammed into a stereotypical character in one scene, and how thankful we were that Cyborg wasn't actually Masters of The Universe 2. Enjoy and see you next season!
